Come to Vancouver BC and ask people you meet where they’re from. Eight times out of ten they won’t respond with ‘Vancouver, born and raised’. Perhaps people that grew up in the city knew enough to leave if they were ever to purchase property- and that was then! Foreign investment has been at the forefront as the reason for the skyrocketing prices in housing – in particular, buyers from Mainland China. So here in the city, developments get bought out rather quickly. Yet in parts of China, the developments are exceeding interest and the bubble is about to burst, leaving entire cities deemed to be ‘ghost towns’ – almost built without enough buyers to get to point of completion.
